Whether it is your first time kayaking on the Central Coast or your hundredth, guided tours are a great way to explore the coastal waters. Central Coast Kayaks offers three main tours that explore the coast from Port San Luis to Pismo Beach.

Cave Expedition
Paddling Through Cathedral Cave
This is our most exciting and rewarding tour!!! The Cave Expadition is enjoyed by novice and seasoned kayaker alike. There are a series of arches, caves, and rock gardens that are only accessible from the water and your kayak is the best vehicle for exploring. This tour is exhilarating and at times strenuous. Your guide will instruct and assist you with a surf zone launch. Once passed the breakers you will venture along spectacular coastal vistas, grottos, arches, kelp forests, and protected coves to the Dinosaur Caves our marine playground. This tour can be taken by the novice or experienced paddler. These caves are both intriguing and challenging, so you choose how much adventure you can handle. Our guides teach you the basic strokes and show you some of the best caves in our area. Central Coast Kayaks has offered this expedition longer than any other. Be careful you might get hooked! Note: If conditions for the Cave Expedition are not favorable we may defer to the Tomol Tour as an alternative.

Tomol Tour
Under Port San Luis Pier
This is a great family and or novice excursion. The protected waters of Avila Beach and Port San Luis offers a beautiful and relaxing setting for this special outing. Paddle with sea lions, otter, marine birds, and if we're lucky, dolphin. Much like the native Chumash Indians in their plank canoe aka Tomol we'll explore this very special area with its unique geology and history. This excursion often also includes a visit to the historic Point San Luis Light House. We often defer to the Tomol Tour when the very popular Cave Expedition is not possible due to ocean conditions.

Pirates' Excursion
Exploring the Rock Gardens
This 4-5 hour guided excursion is designed for experienced beginners to expert paddlers and provides a taste of the best kayak touring. Starting with a beach launch at historic Port San Luis or Avila Beach, you will explore where famed pirates and explorers ventured in the 16th century. Great coastal vistas, kelp forests, secluded beaches, sea carved rock grottos, arches, and caves will fulfill your adventuresome spirit. An abundance of sea life awaits you. Otters, seals, and dolphin often visit and live in the area. Time and conditions allowing, we will venture and explore the Dinosaur Caves of Shell Beach. All equipment is provided.
